Our Story
Meet the Holbox Guide crew

Greetings from Isabel and Pedro, a couple of multimedia artists passionate about nature, island life, and British bulldogs.

Our Story begins in early 2009 during a visit to Mayan lands. We heard about this place when getting to Holbox was a true odyssey since there weren’t many roads and you could easily get lost with inaccurate information.

Our first trip in March 2009 was a 5 hours drive from Playa del Carmen. The highway from Playa del Carmen to Chiquila didn’t exist. We believe that very few people knew about Holbox since nobody told us that there were no banks. If we had had this information, our vacation would have been perfect.

Everything changed when we saw the sea!
The very first moment that we laid eyes on the emerald-blue waters of Holbox, we were hypnotized. We fell in love with its people, food, and island life. Our dream of living there was born.

And so five years went by as we kept coming back year after year to this magical healing place for us.

It was in early 2013 that Holbox Guide came to life in our heads. A travel guide for travelers. That really sounded like a fun new adventure project. In early May 2014, we moved into Isla Holbox and started an amazing new life next to our Baby Bulldog Ramona.

Less than a month after our arrival in June 2014, we launched the first version of our Holbox Guide app available for iOS, Android as well as the very first version of our website. In early January, The first printed version of our Holbox Guide Magazine arrived six months later.

In early 2017 we revisited our online guide and apps and rebuilt them from the ground up. We also redesigned our printed map into a larger size. We included INNA, a beautiful girl from Holbox that is also known as the map girl. During that summer, we published the first edition of our pocket magazine iHolbox. New colleagues: Bill, Valentina, and Ramona Segunda, arrived on the island by the end of October.

We want travelers who visit Holbox to have a great experience and enjoy their stay on the best island in Mexico. We are pleased to present the outcomes of our 7-year adventure compiled in the one and only Holbox Guide…
